dual-orifice forced peristalsis
First week of college, contracted a nasty stomach flu. Crawled miserably down the dormitory hall to the common bathroom and into a stall, commenced wretched retching. Had nearly decided to end it all when Morten from across the hall came barreling in and, thinking I was choking, applied the Heimlich maneuver.

Only one so far...
My miscarried son. The girl and me made a baby- turns out birth control pills fail with anti-depressants- and we were both starving students but thought to make a go of it. Anyway five months on the water breaks and we all rush to the hospital for hours and hours of labor and tension, the baby barely alive but holding on.
Well eventually I guess it got to be too much for the little guy and he died soon after birth. I saw him. He was thin.
I still feel bad because I didn't want a child. I didn't want him to not live, though, either.
My father died yesterday, on the other end of the continent. I think by the time I get there the body will no longer be viewable. I'm a little out of sorts, sorry about the whining.

Repo Man
So far, most favorite. Seen it at least 100 times, I see more fun stuff each time. There are others of course, but I can't be bothered to list them as I'm off to peruse the lovely linky to Gilliam's top 10 posted by some upstanding wonderful b3tan.

» My most treasured possession
two things-
years ago after washing out of college I lived with a nice girl who gave me a guitar she had living in the closet, which later I wore on my back (and occasionally played) whilst hitchhiking across the North American continent. This instrument later burnt in a fire on the house in which I was living with a sort of surrogate family. I was able to recover the burnt pieces of the guitar and later performed a ceremony which involved burning the rest of the pieces in a campfire in the hills of the desert of central Washington State (USA) and consecrating the recovered truss rod to the best of my ability.
A few years later the mother of this family gave me another classical guitar for a Christmas present. I still have this guitar, and the cleaned and polished truss rod from the older one. Mom's gone now, she died in November of 2006 but I shan't forget her as long as I live- and as long as I can keep this guitar alive, I have a way to honor her memory in my life.
