death of radio
As an expat brit in New York, I used to listen in to two familiar voices on the beebs real audio feed, my fellow NY brit, Alistair Cook and of course John Peel. While the first death was a one time affair, Peel's death has a number of musical associations which still seem to make a tear well, when I hear 'teenage kicks' or 'does this train stop on mersyside?'.
I remember Peel mentioning he had started to weep more frequently as he aged, certainly something I have found too, and unlike youthful tears over pain or lost love, I actually quite enjoy a good cry induced by music or film these days. The "captain my captain" scene in dead poets society does it for me :-)
