Not discovered so much as lost and found...
When I was a bit younger I used to have an old Atari gaming system with a full suite of cartridges. After I got my Nintendo the Atari went back into the box for some 10 or so years. Recently, on discovering the (rather) high auction prices for working Ataris, I asked my mom where the old thing went to...

"Oh, it was collecting dust so I threw it out."

Cue me collapsing in disbelief and quiet anger.

Insult was added to injury when 3 days later while going through our hall closet I discovered 4 of the largest vibrators I have ever seen (a la the infamous "ass to ass" one from requiem for a dream"), a video recorder, and a stack of old penthouse magazines...

...they were my parents'.

On a boating adventure my dad and I
found a large legbone on an island close to my house. He took it to the police to get identified... it was a human femur from a 12-14 year old girl.

Ew.

Not exactly treasure, but I thought it was impressive at the time.

» Stupid Tourists

Outside the (clearly marked) Foggy Bottom-GWU metro stop
An English couple stopped me to inquire as to the whereabouts of the closest metro station.

I sent them off in the opposite direction and went merrily off to lunch. Having originally come from "Flor-ee-duh" I'm more than accustomed to dealing with annoying touristy types. Outside of the standard fat white midwesterners with too many kids and those damned mouse hats, the Japanese tourists who wear all-black and ask where the beaches are at are the worst.

I like how they always have nice cameras though.

» I'm an expert

Not quite an expert but
I know probably all there is to know about ferrets, although mine is a little bastard that likes to nip my toes, and ..

After spending two years studying under a Professor Kuzio, I now have an intimate grasp of Ukrainian society and politics. This is ultimately useless however as I've never actually been there and it's possible that I may never do so. I received high marks in the classes though so that was nice.
