» School Sports Day
Still slightly ashamed of this one..
Sat in the stands with my friend during one glorious summer sports day, I looked over to notice he seemed to be just staring into space, deep in thought. Being young and childish I did the only obvious thing and pretended to slap him, stopping my hand short of hitting him (of course, I am not a violent person :).
His reactions were, shall we say, less than lightning-fast, and after about five seconds more of his thoughtful stare into space he suddenly jerked up and grabbed my hand.
My comment to him was something like "Nice reactions speedy", which prompted him to say "yeah, just you try that again".
So I did.
Quite Hard.
I did help him up afterwards, with blood pouring from his nose, and we went to find the nurse.
If by any chance you're reading this Paddy, I'm sorry!

» School Trips
I still remember this clearly...
Coming back from a week-long school trip to Wales. Teachers driving us back in two minibuses, travelling in convoy down the motorway, with the lead minibus towing our luggage trailer.
Sitting in the second bus and staring out of the window, I suddenly had the very surreal sight of a lone wheel bouncing past us down the motorway.
"Ha ha!" I thought "Some poor sod's lost a wheel". I turned to nudge the boy next to me so that he might share in my mirth, and that's when I noticed the huge fountain of sparks spraying the windscreen, being kicked up by the axle of the luggage trailer scraping along the motorway at 70mph.
Apparently the five-minute-long stream of swearwords that the teacher driving the leading bus shouted was quite something to hear. Especially when you're twelve.

» Heckles
Not mine..
Sat in the cinema the other week, not exactly full (about 20 of us in the 500 seats) there was a row of studenty types behind us. Before the film they played that Road Safety ad with the monumentally irritating kids messing around filming themselves on a mobile phone.
Immediately after the kid gets hit by the car one of the student types behind us shouted out: "Yeah! I'd have run 'em over too".
I can't see that advert without smiling now.
Other stories I could post include that time we saw (unwillingly) "MC Lars" and his "Post Punk Laptop Rap" ... I don't think there was anyone in the crowd who didn't heckle that pile of shite.

» Dumb things you've done
My friend let me know earlier...
That I've been paying his phone bill for the last year.
And mine.
I hadn't noticed.
I'm pretty stupid sometimes.
