Undying love
Fella in a Sydney bottlo* wearing a singlet** which enabled me to see his tattoo - the classic heart with "Narelle" through it on a scrolly banner thing. Narelle was crossed out. Under the heart was Charlene. That too was crossed out and under that was Raylene. Raylene was still current.
Names have been changed because I have forgotten them.
* Off-license
** Vest, but not necessarily underwear.

Pub quiz
At a pub quiz and trying to think of a witty and not crap name for our team. The quizmasters favourite association football team had just finished up in 5th spot in the league, so we called ourselves "Hope we don't come 5th". Frightfully witty, and we came 5th.
Next week we thought clever and came up with "Hope we don't come 1st". Ended up joint first facing a tiebreaker and - guess what! Came second.
Gentlemen always come second.

Bbbrrruuummm
There was a lad in our primary school who was known to all to be a bit slow, but never picked upon, really, because he kept himself to himself. He also thought he was a motorbike and would ride around the playground making brum-brum noises and holding his hands in the air like he was holding onto the handlebars. Bless. I think, remembering back far too many years, that his surname was Carr, which may be ironic.

Dirty old woman
Student days in Manchester, lived next door to a couple of lovely old dears, keen ornithologists who were going to Greece for a bit of foreign: "We are going to the isle of Lesbos for some birdwatching". Lucky them.
