playing music as loud as possible on a mobile phone
Am I the only one who doesn't get this?

Why is it always some chav little shit that has their techno/chipmonk sounding shit so loud on the speaker, that the sound is beyond distorted??

At least when the old ghetto-blasters were the in thing, (and their 8AA batteries), no-one was playing this alvin and the chipmonks shite.

Reminds me of a time I was in new york, and his homeless guy setup the biggest ghetto-blaster I've ever seen on the pavement, and fired-up james brown and started giving it all the moves.. now that's class!

power cuts...
A few months ago we had a power outage in the building, in fact the entire street went out. The floor went completely dark, leaving the just the morning sunlight to illuminate the room. The only sound that can be heard is the sound of the building alarm and cooling fans from the racks in our server room. We ring the power company, and the poor girl answering the phone has obviously started the day with lots of panicing people seeking an update...she has no update. We ring again, in in the hope that another customer support agent might have a better idea.. no chance. We now have a pre-recorded response advising of the outage....bugger, this is going to be a big power outage. So then the immediate panic begins.. we (myself and my team) have to get all the servers shut down before the UPS runs out. Off we dash and start working on getting the servers offline. as you do.

A few mins later we hear a loud banging on the server room door. I go out to answer it, just in case it's our manager asking for an update. Alas it wasn't my manager but a guy standing with his laptop on, demanding to know why he can't get onto the internet on the wireless network.

I just turned around, walked away, closing the server room door behind me and went back to trying to saving the servers from dropping dead. (the UPS died about 30 seconds after the last server shutdown .. close one!)

» Cringe!

awkward!
In a past job (when I was no long out of college) I worked in an insurance company on their IT helpdesk. There was about 500 people in the building, and doing the work we did you got to know most people.

Anyways I digress... My mate Mike took a call from a rather cute young lady, (who we'd chatted to once or twice in the pub before), she was having network issues with her PC and couldn't resolve it over the phone, so it necessitated going down to check the cabling out on the computer. So off Mike went relishing the opportunity to have a chat in person with the rather cute girl.

So first things first, he tries to rule out if there's a cable problem. (Typically in most big companies, you will find 100+ people to a floor crammed into small cubicles, and the data & phone points are usually under the desk).
So Mike tries his best to act cool and collected, having got the small talk out of the way, he utters the words without thinking and probably a bit too loudly..

"would you mind if I get down under your desk and check out your box"

ooops! I'd heard that the laughter went like a wave across the floor. Poor guy had to spend another ten mins red-faced at the desk fixing the problem.

reality shows...
Turn on Sky and there's 700+ plus channels with endless variants of the same format program. i.e. 3 or 4 unknown punters .. judging the best idea / performance / whatever... why?

Why is it that every bloke on these programs has to have a little cry in telling their story.. what's happened in the world.. MAN THE FUCK UP!

Busted!
A couple of months back, I was out with mrs sarcasmo and some old friends, who we'd not seen in a long time.

We end up in a local pub, a good night was had, and after many many refreshing beverages later we decide to make our way back to the house to see what else could be drank...

It's late in the night, and not much is stirring in the area. The only noise to be heard, is our chatter as we walk along. We make our way into our estate, where there's a row of about 8 houses one side of the road.

A friend and I are chatting away, and are a few feet ahead of the rest of the gang.

Then the silence breaks.. all we can hear is .."GO ON YE BOY YE!"

It turns out that one of our neighbours, (a lad in his mid 20's-early 30s).. had taken the decision to sneak into the sitting room and fire up the auld naughty 10 minute freeview.

The last thing he expected in the midst of his vinegar strokes was to have a number of pissed people walking past his house :D

Interestingly enough, ever since that night, he's always had the curtains pulled when it starts to get dark.
