Lies
My problem is not that I tell kids lies, it is that I refuse to give them dumbed down explanations when there is are better more scientific answers.
Sadly my explanation of the many worlds theory was lost on the 5 year old though he now uses the word Inuit.

Chemistry
While we had our fair share of eccentric teachers at my school a Mr Davies stood alone for destruction
Top 3:
Blowing up his fume cupboard. Due to a little over enthusiasm with the chemical ingredients there was a loud pop and it came apart like an Ikea diagram
Burning down the school fence using thermite
Best of all he, in his words, "found a use for physics" took one iron ring and one soft iron core and promptly created a rudimentary rail gun. He used this to shoot out the ceiling tiles in his room though he scaled back on this behavior when he shot out a light!

Little bits of colourful joy
I love the small brightly coloured little sugar pills of joy or as more commonly know to the general public M&Ms
I frequently overdose on a family size bag, have tried every kind I can get my hands on peanut butter, wild cherry, mint the works. I can taste the difference between French, American English and Hong Kong varieties. I have even gone as far as framing the packaging as a shrine to my colourful love. I have absolutely no intention of stopping my sugar fueled rampage.

Normality
I get get creeped out by the commonplace sometimes. It just gives me a chill of nihilism and a kind of sucking inevitability. For example in Blurs "Common People" the line "with wood chip on the walls" really scares me as it is just so inescapably hopeless but summed up with a tiny piece of interior decoration. Any film involving the happy domestic life of the American Midwest. Up In The Air made me petrified of the nice average that so many people aspire to.
It is not that I want or expect more it is simply that I hope there is more to life than that.
