It depends on the challenge,
rather than compos in general losing steam, I think.
I think a good contest needs to be specific enough to focus your mind on its subject, but broad enough to be able to approach it from several different angles.
For example, ones about movies usually do well because there are so many movies to apply the more specific rules of the competition to.
However, this one seems too limited in subject (the fat), and the rules (make someone useful) are too vague to really be able to easily grab an angle on.

right, on each point
it was movies remade with animals that drew me to participating on b3ta.
i think the way the comp's are chosen should be looked at, because there must be some great submissions in there somewhere, we just don't really see them come through

someone on links found a funny site
that had 19 unusable stock shot pictures and the idea was that you could only use these pics but you could shop them in any way.
Limited in source material but endless in possibilities. I thought it would be a good way to compare the inner workings of b3tans' minds.
