I hate Xmas......Not because it's so commercial, or that everyone goes mental and eats/drinks too much.
But because my birthday is the 4th of January.
I don't think I've ever had 2 separate presents or cards in my life, my cheap arse friends and family always say "merry Xmas and happy birthday" on the same card.... My personal favorite is "well it's the end of December so we'll get you something in the new year" that never happens!

I'm not an Xmas person.My daughters birthday is November 14th but I always make that the BIG time of the year, not the time some bloke may or may not have been born 2011 years ago so let's eat ourselves to death. She still gets gifts and stuff but knows the big stuff comes on her birthday.

I'm lucky that I don't have kids, meant in the sence that I don't have to celebrate for them, which I would if I did have.So I was able just to tell everyone years ago, "Look I don't like Christmas and birthdays and don't want to celebrate, so plaese don't buy me any presents or cards as I don't want them, and I'm not buying you anything either" and everyone just went "ow OK then" end of matter and absolutely no stress....!!

My problem is the forced "happy time"Where every pub is stupidly full, all the shelves are filled with shit no one really wants and the world and his wife are in the shops all pushing and shoving.....
I'm stuck with family this year, last time I tried to feign illness my mam and dad showed up and insisted on taking me back to theirs... 4 days hiding in a bedroom with 4 fuzzy terrestrial channels and no wifi! This was only a few years ago, channel five and free view where there it's just the antiquitated tv and coat hanger arial that let it all down.

Oh I fixed that this year....Got my mam an iPad and phoned virgin for a proper router... (they still had the set top box as their modem)
So not only did I guarantee wifi but I also made sure there was a thing to use for interweb browsing.

I just hate the falsness and pretension....Also the waste of money buying people presents that no one actually wants or likes.
I do buy people presents, but not for Christmas or birthdays, I buy people presents when I see something by chance and think so and so will like that, and I give it to them the next time I see them... so it's not because I'm mean....
