currently in Windows in the middle of hacking some stuff = ON THE BBS = so I can`t fiddle about and check :(

make sure there`s nothing new in the synaptic repositories (although you`ve probably done this) - is it possible you`ve got a crippled copy of the s/w? SUSE Linux comes with a crippled bunch of DVD stuff
