I think your view is the way it was meant to be
I was attempting to misinterpret the image for comic effect, and failed dismally.

but
what is the correct interpretation of the image, as my old semiotics lecturer might ask?

I think the kitten's been bumming the duck
cause of the subject... and cause it seems to be trying to intimidate it

no well you see
the suggestion is that the source image had a correct interpretation before any photoshoppery was done to it, something along the lines of "kittens and ducklings should be friends", but it may equally have been "you have to be this tall to ride the duck rollercoaster at my theme park young man"

I think the kitten has already ridden the "duck rollercoaster".

I like the roller coaster theorey
Wherever it came from is what it means, I know, but I do like the idea that the duck is threatening the kitten (even though thats not what I was saying earlier)
fuck, I don't know.

well
we have to accept that the image may not actually hold any meaning of and by itself, just the meaning we place upon it

well,
does anything have any meaning?
maybe nothing means anything, and in an attempt to understand what's happening we assign a meaning to everything, even though it's all meaningless

stop it
or we'll start talking about signs and signifiers and become post-structuralists
as the guy from Snap says:
"and you don't want that"

I don't know what a post-structuralist is, but I'll pretend I do*

I don't believe in smilies when it comes to jokes
if something requires a smiley for people to know it's a joke, it's obviously shit and shouldnt be said in the first place.
In my opinion.
