# :D
Took me a while to notice that

# Subtlety!
The shadow took FOREVER to look right, and I'm still not happy with it. It's 530am over here, though, and I'm currently infected with the most malicious sinus infection modern science has ever seen (the Discovery Channel will be airing a documentary on my respiratory system in a few months), so I can't be bothered.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:32, archived)
# Ouch. Get well soon.
I think the shadow is nicely done as is.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:34, archived)
# yeah,
I've been sick for about 2 1/2 weeks now, I refuse to see the doctor 'cause I get the same thing every time the seasons change and the antibiots they give me never do a thing. So I've been sitting at home, killing time by watching movies (El Mariachi is actually pretty good) and messing around on Gimp. I managed to do a fair self-portrait, though it fails to capture me in all my current baggy-eyed, sniffly, tweaked-out-on-Mucinex glory.

Apologies for size, I like working big.
Edit: Right, switched to a smaller version, click for bigger

# Cor
That's a bit good.
A little on the massive side, but damn good nonetheless.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:45, archived)
# thanks
I have the cheapest Wacom money can buy, and my hands tend to be a bit shaky, so I work large to counteract. Then by the time I'm done, I realize that if I shrank it down, it'd look like crap 'cause I put too much detail in.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:48, archived)
# I can imagine.
I like the way you've done the hair.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:50, archived)
# :)
Thanks, it was a bit of an experiment. I think it came out too muddy (and light, my real hair is much darker)... Next time I'll work with higher opacity so the highlights are brighter and the shadows are darker.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:52, archived)
# thats why people put a "click for biggar" link in there....
just a thought... nazis can strike at any time...
plus, if you anti-alias it when you shrink it, it retains a lot of detail :)
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 13:12, archived)
# Right, I knew that... No, really
I'm an idiot, then. Thanks!

(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:42, archived)
# I'll take eight.
Maximum recommended dosages are for wimps.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:46, archived)
# I see your eight
and I raise you another 4

Poker with lemsip. Could get dangerous.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:48, archived)
# I fold.
pardon my western ignorance, but what's lemsip? I'm assuming it's either some cough syrup or one of those powdered tea-esque things for colds.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:50, archived)
# Good Guess
tis a powsered tea-esque thingy. Very lemony, with added paracetemol.

and a fairly good cure-all.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:52, archived)
# a-ha!
It's called Theraflu in these parts. It tastes nasty, though, so maybe it's a completely different product.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:57, archived)
# you can get blackcurrant ones too
thank god

# i swear by metatone or one of those other tonic things.
does what lucozade used to claim to do.it'll help you cure quicker.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:50, archived)
# Pah!
Lemsip is foul, and near inefective.

Best flu remedy ever is:
- juice of one fresh lemon
- grated fresh ginger
- 2 teaspoons of honey
- top it up to "a mugful" with hot water
- chuck in 2 shots of whisky

The lemon and ginger will help to clear your nose, the honey will sooth your throat, and the whisky will take care of the rest.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:52, archived)
# i have a total of NONE of these things
and no money
/poor student

but i do have lemsip.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:55, archived)
# That sounds
absolutely foul.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:56, archived)
# it's significantly less foul
than "parecetemol in a cup" which is what lemsip is.

The honey is important there
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 11:00, archived)
# But... watered-down honey and whiskey with lemon juice?
I feel ill thinking about it.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 11:02, archived)
# i agree
with you 'cept the whisky thing

ugh!

the rest rocks and also works
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 11:09, archived)
# If you have a sore throat, leave the ginger out. It acts as an irritant and will make things much worse.
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 12:14, archived)
# just the fella,
orig' posted as a reply to parlicoot but swiftly deleted cos it was too messy, might also come in handy here.

# Haha, I want one
(, Sun 8 Oct 2006, 10:37, archived)
# still a bit shitty, but i'm giving up.
it's got special white goo around it that can only be seen on this board.
