My theory is that there's just too damn many of us.Seriously, we're all too crowded on this tiny little planet. We're a great species on the level of small groups. As tribes, we rock. We have men hunting, women farming so the hunters don't starve, gay people raise the kids and do all the hoodoo... It works. As soon as we get big groups meeting each other then conflict starts. What we need is a really good plague. That'll slow down the wars.

It'll play havoc with the house prices though.I agree. We work well when we know each other. In small villages nobody gets rocks thrown at their cars because the victim is a person.
