# I believe it's the traditional way to explain your poor gaming performance
by suggestion it is in fact the games fault. THis normally has to be done at high volume.

I was terrible at those games. The only response I ever got was "you cannot do that"

# ^^This to the extreme
I had "Frankenstein" on the C64 which had a 15 rating (because every now and then you allegedly saw a scary 8-bit drawing).

I couldnt get out the first room.

# did anyone have grand larceny on the c64?
I never managed to finish that, and lost the instructions so didn't know what the commands were. Typing in every verb you can think of eats up a lot of time.

I'd also like to point out to any of you that are confused- being able to play Guitar Hero does NOT mean you can play guitar. Please stop approaching me at my own gigs to smugly announce you can do Dragonforce on hard.

playing that :(

I didn't go to sleep that day until I unearthed my PS2, the PS2 version and clocked the entire thing in one session.

# I don't think I'd be any good at it. I'm blessed with the worst hand-eye co-ordination ever.
I give up 5 notes in on Guitar Hero.
(, Thu 15 Jan 2009, 12:29, archived)
# Simple solution....
1. hand them your scruffy backup guitar
2. say, 'go on then'.
(, Thu 15 Jan 2009, 12:08, archived)
# Nah, I don't play six strings. Who am I, Joe Satriani?!
:D

I'm a bassist, I can hardly bitch about lack of musical prowess....
(, Thu 15 Jan 2009, 12:09, archived)
# I know, I did consider putting 'Bass' instead of guitar....
My inner pedant though is quick to point out that a bass guitar is still technically a guitar...

Joe Satriani - technically astonishing, but his playing seems to lack feel or soul, if you know what I mean. I'd rather listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn or Buddy Guy, personally.
/old fart blog
(, Thu 15 Jan 2009, 12:13, archived)
# I know EXACTLY what you mean.
technical ability amounts to shit all in my eyes - I went to see Paul Gilbert do a guitar workshop a couple of years ago and he's technically amazing, but there's a bit of soul there too which was good. Nice guy too.
(, Thu 15 Jan 2009, 12:14, archived)
# I'm technically inept
but I have loads of soul.

# blimey
there's a name I haven't heard for a bit! Did he demonstrate the electric drill thing he used to do with Billy Sheehan in Mr Big?

Lacking either technical ability or soul, I'm reduced to playing 3-chord punk where my woeful ineptitude is masked by distortion, volume and anger...
(, Thu 15 Jan 2009, 12:21, archived)
# He did, I think! It was a couple of years ago.
He did some... stuff too. What's the name of his new band? Anyway, them. They played some stuff.

# I've no idea!
My knowledge of music is wedged firmly in the mid-to-late eighties.
I've no idea what's happened since then.

a bit of good dance
a tiny bit of good rock

# I can play the real guitar but not Guitar Hero.
I like to announce this at the top of my voice when I fail miserably at the latter.

# 'It's harder when you can actually play an instrument'
I have been known to mutter this.
(, Thu 15 Jan 2009, 12:21, archived)
# me too
'cos when you play it on easy they miss out notes and penalise you when you play them.

I shouldn't complain really. Sadly I suck at GH a lot less than I do at real guitars.
