I'll bet it doesn't look like this when it comes out of the box!
(is that a real burger or a render, or a fake up like big macs?)

I'm guessing that the burger up there ^ doesn't come in a box.

McDonalds could never produce anything like that.
It's real, and I'm pretty sure it's served on a plate, rather than a box.

Edit: Steak is only served that way.

I have to say raw meat isn't particularly appealing to me.
I like it _just_ cooked through.
(
k3b/-\b Peace man., Sun 19 Jul 2009, 12:11,

Ah well, each to his/her/it's own.
I'm quite a fan of the raw stuff, meself - Oysters, Steak Tatare, Sushi etc.
(
J Peasemould Gruntfuttock Alpha Mike Foxtrot, Sun 19 Jul 2009, 12:13,

I had a raw oyster a long time ago, never tried raw fish sushi
because I don't like fish. Don't think I like the idea of a raw beefburger.
I saw a dish (on tv) that was beef strips marinated for a long time in an acidic solution I'd give that a go.

That sounds rather nice.
I recall a recipe doing beef in Japanese Rice Wine, that'd be a good one to try.

many thanks for that.
Edit: Is it also the practice to call Coriander 'Cilantro' down under, as well?
I'll need to check my Donna Hays....

not that I'm aware of, not unless coriander is used to mean different things
like "shallot". ed: i can't decide if it's flat parsley or coriander in your roast beef pic.

Most prolly Flat Leaf Parsley
or some Roquette-related nonsense.

thats not raw! its supposed to be ready pink in the middle for the taste....
try it, you won´t go back!
Here in spain the chefs refuse to cook it completely brown as they see it as an insult.

When my wife and I were in France she asked for a well done steak at a small town bistro -
the waiter almost had a fit! She settled for medium, but the waiter did finally explain how to order well done - just rap on the table - you want it cooked until it is as hard as wood...
(mine was a perfect medium rare, BTW.)

The "Big Mac Sauce" comes in one of those things you use to put the stuff inbetween tiles in
It's pretty tastey, just some pink garlic mayo or something. So Probably garlic, mayo, ketchup
