hello. knowing not what the future holds, I am currently considering this.

I cannot click the sign up because it's still July. I have never been that far north in England. I do not want to get beaten up, raped or put in prison. I love getting pissed drunk in unfamiliar surroundings and other countries. not keen on paying more than â‚¬100 for to and fro flight from the continent in any case. blah blah.

It doesn't look líke I'll be working later that day or the next (and can always take time off from the gallery I work at in the NQ if it's an earlier start).

I will personally pay for Dom's taxi home if he attends, as I'll be going that way (geographically-speaking only, I hasten to add...).

Crazy idea, born from the fact that I'm a little drunk in a bar owned/run by friends here...

but how about doing the bash in Stockport? Easy transport links (on the M60 & West Coast Mainline -- all trains from the south stop here; direct public transport links from Manchester city centre: no more than 3 train stops, plus a world-famous bus service that runs past 3:30am on weekends) and a good number of pubs/bars doing quality ale/lager/cider.

I'd be willing to sort out the itinerary if people are interested and I'm given some parameters (start/end time, where people are coming from, kind of venue preferred, etc.).

The date is set I guess, as for location, not as yet.

Last Manchester bash I went to was at a pub in the city centre where were able to secure a room/snug away from normal folk. I'm going to be in town next week so will scope it out (I think I can remember where it was).

Otherwise, any suggestions?

Suggestions for a city-centre pub with decent beer and a separate space or large table we could commandeer/pre-book:

Sand Bar
Lass O'Gowrie
Castle Hotel
Briton's Protection
Crown & Kettle
Peveril of the Peak

(I can likely come up with more.) Being a Friday, unless we're meeting well before the post-work crowds descend, it'd probably be best to reserve a spot in advance (I don't mind doing that).

I'm being picked up from Albert Hall/Schloss (not far from the BP) at 7pm

to go do an event crew job in Scarborough (no idea what event yet).

So I'll head to the BP for 6pm for a couple, if anyone wants to meet up a little earlier. I'll be pretty easy to spot: long hair, bigish beard and wearing a beanie hat.
