Building the models and sets would've taken four years alone I would've thought.
The story could have perhaps been a bit tighter but it looks like it's been translated and it was only part one so fair enough. Visually stunning though. Good on him.

he couldn't have built all of it, some of it must have been photos and CG art. Brilliantly put together though, and some of the panning camera shots must have taken ages to plan and set up.

This is a normal post Animation great, storytelling slow
The problem is one of pace - think how much happens in a 30' TV show (in reality often 22' of action), in this we're at minute 8 discussing story establisher. Also has cutaways to humorous elements which feel inappropriately timed.

Taking nothing away from the implementation - looks great, great styling, decent animation, just the storytelling isn't up to the same level. Put this guy with a good script, could be something amazing.
