It's almost impossible not to leave a digital fingerprint these days.
The best you can do is pollute it rendering it useless.
Change usernames, visit random sites, share amazon and ebay accounts with family.
Do not use a store card, it's primary purpose is for the store to create a profile of you to target more crap."nectar points" are worth fuck all.
VPN's and "private browsing" are not just for porn.
Not perfect but if you're up to something that would necessitate bypassing those measures then you've got bigger problems.

It's also historical use that can catch you out.
Ross Ulbricht, for example. Took all the precautions under the sun to hide his identify. Now spending his life in prison for once posting his email address on a forum years ago.
