This is a normal post gerrymandering the fuck out of the place

This is a normal post yep my Labour voting town nicely split into 3 to include local Tory voting rural areas
and a larger Tory town in one of these areas outnumbers the population in our town. Ain't democracy great?

This is a normal post even without the potential gerrymandering
some divides are bizarre; splitting some rural towns and villages along rivers so half a community falls in a completely different town's constituency.

Splitting along a river makes more sense in a city where different areas more naturally fall either side of a river.

This is a normal post we have the tech to do this kind of stuff objectively and anonymously
in fact it's technically trivial. The problem is nobody will ever sanction it. the Boundaries Commission supposed impartiality is a joke - as soon as one party or another gets in they change everything (or as much as they can get away with) to suit their needs, it's utterly un-scientific, led by lawyers and the political party of the day.

This is a normal post This is a country that gets upset about dialling codes
just imagine the flap if people had to change their political 'identity' because of an algorithm

If we still have FPTP isn't this always going to be a bit of a waste of time? That is...if historical boundaries are such for practical reasons changing to get proportional areas under FPTP seems nonsensical?

This is a normal post FPTP is a failed system
Of course that means nothing in the decision as to whether we keep it as our only route to any form of democracy.
