This is a link post Chinese Leapfrog Game.
Ronseal Description:

Apparently, this is a 2nd grade computer test game in China. The idea
is to simply get the frogs to switch places in under two minutes. It
seems to be one of those games where you either "get it" straight away or your computer gets it's first flying lesson. I'm still trying
at this time & my 'puter doesn't have a parachute :-(

EDIT:- Where's my F*****G TROPHY??? Managed it on about my 12th attempt.

This is a normal post It got me thinking about series and patterns in mathematics
Say the series 2, 5, 10, 20, 40, 80...
What is the rule/formula to get that string of numbers.

You start at the first number and work out the various ways you can get to the second then see which of those ways also gets you from 2nd to 3rd number and 3rd to 4th etc.

This was before I was introduced to algebraic equations etc as a means to simplify things.

One of my favourite maths facts is that if you take ANY number I can tell you if it's divisble by 9 in the time it takes to add together all the digits in it until you end up with a single digit.

eg 892857048728481 = you can remove (skip) 9's as you go also, so you add 8, skip 9, 2, 8 (= 18 so reset to 0) 5, 7, 4, 8, (skip 7, 2), 8, 4, (= 36 so reset to 0), 8, 1 = 9.

That's advanced. If you just add all digits you get 81 then add those you get 9.
So it's divisible by 9.

I remember at the school before we had actual computer classes where we could play around making programmes in BASIC and I would debug basic BASIC games the older years had made.

But this was the first use of computers as an aid to another subject that I had.
