My fast, rambling talk containing Proper Maths™ from Ignite Bristol (held on the magnificent SS Great Britain). Sod Marcus de Sautoy, hard stuff is fun. Also contains 120 digits of pi recited in under 15 seconds.

I take comfort in your mathematical ability by thinking you're one of those guys who can do all that but yet can't work out how much change you'd get from a tenner if you bought a chocolate bar and a bag of crisps.

Alas I'm one of those annoying people who will hand over £10.14 if the bill is £3.59 (and I don't have a 5p). Which it will be for a chocolate bar and a bag of crisps in a service station.

was so much clearer and easier to understand that when I did this at uni! Brilliant!

I used to be able to do pi to 150, but not that fast! :)

I still always pronounce it 'You-lar'. Top video, woo!

I've always pronounced it you-ler.

I didn't know Goethe was pronounced Go-ur-ter until the Al Murray in Germany programme on BBC Four.
(And I did follow the maths - I choked on Pure & App Maths A Level - woo! My brain still works 28 years later)
Similarly, a German colleague - despite living here for years - thought pomegranate was pronounced pommey-gran-ah-ta

got this with subtitles - or a transcript without all the panting!? It's like a math geek's porno movie!!! I was waiting for some cheesy 80's music and the mention of giving your cosine a good working... How's your radians feeling now? Heh heh...

That was amazing.
I'm brighter than most of these other fuckers and caught probably 85% of it, but I still wanted to watch it all again.

That was be-woot-iful. Godel next, please.

I was thinking of it, but then someone pointed me at Gödel in 2 minutes, so I'd have to do other things to bulk it out. I was thinking I'd move onto interesting applications of Infinity for the next one?

Oh, and the random gurglings of my 11 month daughter have more scientific content than Horizon does these days.
