Oh. My. Firkin. God.
I heard about this kind of stunt ages ago and couldn't find any videos to prove it! The only difference was I'd heard of it done with a balsa wood plane and four flies spread out along the wings like a tiny B-17 Flying Fortress.
Have a click, you've made my day!

The concept was printed in
The Journal of Irreproducible Results many years ago.
"The Fly as an Aeronautic Force" by Tim M Sharon, Ph. D. and Richard D. Brewer, Ph.D. (based on work they started in 1949, and the article was reprinted in 1983 in their "Best of JIR"
still, very cool!

no they don't
They have nerves which will make them aware of adverse situations, but they don't feel pain. More importantly, they don't have an advanced neural system to evoke a stress response. So in all honesty it wouldn't make that much difference.
*my degree was in zoology.

I love how you can just say "no they dont", im pretty sure that hitler used a similar statement during WW2....
inreference to the pain a certain minority felt that he was trying to exterminate.
I dont care for insects either but I bet they do feel pain, just because they maybe don't perceive it as we do doesn't prove your argument and neither does a degree in Zoology.

comparing someone who says fles dont feel pain
to hitler, is a bit of a stretch.

Zoology...?
Bit broad to be spouting off on pain responses in insects, isn't it?
I'd want to hear from an entomologist, personally...

So he takes something called a fly that can fly and makes it fly
Next week he decks out a fish in scuba gear.

It's good because
it can still fly, in spite of the extra payload. He's effectively crippling the fly and yet it still performs. This is like strapping a rucksack full of bricks to your dog and seeing if it can still make it across the lawn.
