Home Taping Is Killing Music
I made this!
In the 1980s I made an anti-piracy infomercial warning against the dire perils of home taping.
(actually I recorded this last week for the Don't Disconnect Us campaign against Mandy's Digital Economy Bill www.dontdisconnect.us/)

Hip hop commissions - true facts.
Before MC Frontalot hit the big time, he did a rap for Sesame Street about how toilet paper is made. It never hurt his career.

Mind you, Jay Z did a song about how to cook the perfect boiled egg, and that's haunted him ever since.

I love the fact that this is German Forklift and yet you made it!
It's further down the board, but have a click here too...

Ah, didn't see that. And yes I am a dirty sell-out - wouldn't have done it unless I agreed with the message though (the anti-DEB message that is, not the anti-piracy message)

Nowt wrong with money
I often find it pays the bills. Better to make money doing what you like than doing what you like in your spare time and hating your job!

You sir
are a legend. May I add you to the (ever growing) list of people I pretend to know, simply because I reply to their posts?

I like.
I have to admit, when I saw the name Dan Bull in the blurb on the newsletter I thought "Great I get to watch him type ANOTHER email for three minutes or so" but this was a refreshing and entertaining video to go with your incredible talent.
Keep up the good work.

At the risk of dragging the thread down
It's interesting how easily we laugh at how silly the imagined panic at home taping was, and yet most everyone would agree that the music industry as a whole has been very much bollocksed for some time, with financial success correlating only very weakly with quality...

Yes, it should be
'Not selling as many CD's at 9000% mark-up anymore is killing music'
That was the only thing that propped them up during the 80's and 90's while home-taping nearly bankrupted them.
