Never suck or chew the Mentos first before adding the diet coke - it removes the shiny surface and the reaction doesn't happen.

Another great vid but I wish to point out the only reason people use diet instead of regular coke is nothing to do with how effective it is... its just because its has less sugar and therefore loads easier to clean up...
