This is a normal post I quite liked the prequel, shame it was ruined by adding unnecessary shitty cgi on top of the excellent physical effects

This is a normal post I hated how it made no sense
How many Things were there? I thought there was only one at a time, but if it was on the helicopter that crashed behind the mountain how did it get back to the base when it can't survive out it the cold.

This is a normal post that's the thing about the thing
It was never an entity, it was a disease.

This is a normal post 'Who Goes There' is very good and worth a read if you haven't
it expands on a 'mind reading' ability, which would explain how the creature has all the same memories and acts how the others expect the person to

The Thing, also known as The Thing From Another World, is a shape-shifting creature that crash-landed upon Earth roughly 100,000 years ago.

Each individual cell of the creature is both part of a singular multi-cellular lifeform and a distinct, independent entity at the same time. Dual-functionality of the creature enables individual cells and/or collections of cells to function as separate organisms if necessary

This is a normal post yeah, I didn't get that from the film
were there moments when there were multiple things on screen? I don't recall

This is a normal post hmm, true, the blood sample I didn't really take as sentient though
just a reaction to the heat
And the spider I took as the sentience, fleeing the dead body

This is a normal post The dog-thing from the start is separate to the frozen remains they find which are still alive and infect Bennings.

(, Mon 31 Aug 2015, 12:06, , Reply)
This is a normal post plus Bennings is obviously torched but the Thing survives in someone else
ha, I don't think I ever bothered thinking about it, just liked the paranoia and effects work :D

This is a normal post I've always read it as every single cell is an aspect of the Thing.
Chop it into five pieces and each bit will get up and act individually, but working towards a single goal. Any blood it leaves behind will actively seek a new target/safety, and if it wanks on your bed, the spunk will chase you.

This is a normal post I felt the prequel tried too hard to connect all the nuggets of information you already had about the Norwegian camp.
And, as you say, the concealing of almost all of the practical FX seemed like a complete lack of faith in their target audience.
