This is a normal post These machines are often required to be installed on the outflows of shopping malls etc
to keep the tampons, sneakers, etc from getting downstream to the wastewater plants. I worked (briefly) in the wastewater business...was told there was a LOT of problems with thieves taking new clothes etc into the toilets and putting the new clothes on and flushing the old stuff down the drain, causing all sorts of problems in the city systems...

Oh, and often they're called Muffin Monsters :)
