Elections can be open or closed or semi-open (or is it semi-closed?). But I have decided that voting for principled candidates (since I won't likely be voting for one of the two major parties in the foreseeable future) outweighs not being able to vote for them in a primary election. I actually don't know all the ramifications of what I've done. I do know that I've joined the population of independent voters who comprise a majority of voters. So if we ever get our act together, we could win elections.
