This is a question Addicted

Cigarettes, gambling, porn and booze. What's your addiction? How low have you sunk and how have you tried to beat it?

Thanks to big-girl's-blouse for the suggestion

Counting
I'm slightly addicted to counting the letters on posters and adverts.

I like to do three counts. The first one is just the letters, the second the letters and I count the dots on the i as a separate chatachter lastly, I count the letters, the dots on the i and I count the underline as a letter.

I get a bit frustrated if I am on a bus and it pulls away before I am finished, or is someone stands in the way while I am counting even if I already know what is there and I can work out the total.

Me too !
I do stuff like that all the time. It annoys me, but I can't stop. Like counting the number of letters in a word and arranging them symmetrically to see if the syllables match, very simple eg: Kevin- Ke v in 2,1,2 so symmetrical letters and also 1,0,1 syllables.
Or: mechanical mec hani cal (3,4,3 letters and 1,2,1 syllables). And if a word won't work, that's when I start using the dots and underlines as extra characters to MAKE it work.
I could go on for pages trying to explain all the others, but I just read the above and it makes me sound a bit wrong already.
Just glad I'm not alone in this.

sorry...
but doesn't mechanical have 4 syllables?

mech an i cal...

this will obviously show my complete retardation at English, or spin your OCD into new levels.
