Fairground Goldfish life expectancy?
It's apparant that most prized goldfish from the fairground are dead by the time you get them home. So I was wondering how long yours lasted for? And whether I hold the world record!

Length? 8 years! Then i emmigrated, and the fish was finally set free in a pond and was found dead the next day .

Ours survived the journey home
and a few months more. It lived in what had previously been an empty aquarium thing after the previous occuopant had started swimming on its side.

When my brother drunkenly fell into the fish tank as a 17 year old, the fish survived that. But with hinsight, I doubt it survived the rest of the night after he thought it was a good idea to put it outside in the fish pond.

Either that, or it's still down there somewhere, ruling the roost like some garden pond Loch Ness Monster.

and now I am wishing I'd made the effort to write that as a proper story.
And not a half arsed reply.

HAH. Nine!
Our goldfish lasted for nine whole years! It would have gone on even longer but my autistic older brother decided it would be a good idea to feed the poor thing paper.

It blew up like a golf ball.

My parents insisted they let it go in the river, but I should think the poor thing wouldn't have lasted long after that.

The old man made an "aquarium" for it out of five rectangular pieces of perspex held together with silicone sealant.

Should have left the silicone to cure for a bit longer, probably.

fishies
brought up in stamford where each year the second largest street fair in england would show up... went every year for 15 years and each year i won a goldfish... they never lasted more than a couple of weeks.

when i was 14, my sister, who was 6 and going to the fair for the first time, won two goldfish which she proudly brought home and put into our tank, they now reside in my mum's garden pond... and i'm 26
