Tell us about the time the fairground came to town and you were sick in a hedge; or when you went to a theme park or circus and were sick in a hedge

I was on a history school trip in Belgium.
Visiting the battle of the Somme and other such areas. In the town we were staying there was a funfair. It had one ride that was worth going on. It went totally upside down, me and a mate went on this ride. At the top when I was totally upside down all the stuff in my pockets fell out. When the ride stopped I got all my stuff back. It was awesome.

Even more awesome
that you managed to visit the Somme (in France) while in Belgium.

Hows that so hard to understand?
He visited the "battle of the Somme", if his school can time travel the small matter of moving international borders is childs play.

We stayed in Belguim and used a thing called a Coach to travel
to various world War one sites of interest.

Ahhh, I see. Still, it's an easy mistake to make.

whats this thing called a coach as you call it?
is it some kind of masstransiant matter shifting interregional device?
if so
It's something we ourselves have been working on for quite some time
But it seems our friend here has found a means of perfecting it
A device which is capable of breaking down solid matter and then
Projecting it through space, and who knows, perhaps even time itself

Yes

Given that the area around that corner of Belgium/France/Germany
saw its borders move almost constantly for a hundred or so years, most particularly during the Great War from whence these battlefields date, this must be just about the most mindnumbingly stupid piece of pedantry ever posted on the internet. Congratulations. Have a balloon.

Or a walloon.

I think you're thinking of the Belgian/French/German border in the east of Belgium
The France/Belgium one was pretty stable. And I already have a walloon.
(, Tue 14 Jun 2011, 16:27, closed)
I'm thinking of the entire area.
I'm not sure you could apply the word "stable" to any of the borders of modern Belgium until after the second world war.

They should declare the whole area as a national cross-frontier theme park and allow people to drive tanks around it and blow shit up. BATTLE WORLD. Don't pretend that wouldn't be ace, walloon or no walloon. It's worth sacrificing an entire nation for that level of awesome.

Visit Bellewaerde park
It's built on the site of Passendaele battlefield. If you stand at Hooghe crater on a summer's day all you hear is the screams from the park. Such a wasted opportunity. Is it in the Jasper Fforde books where they have Somme World?

I have no idea who that person is
but if he agrees with my idea about turning the historic battlefield of Europe into a WAROMG! theme park then he is clearly a gentleman of great mind.
