This is a question Getting Old

Drimble asks: When was it last brought home to you just how old you're getting? We last asked this in 2004, and you're eight years older now. Eight. Years.

I was looking at a picture of my dad at a family do yesterday and felt really old when he pointed out that at the time it was taken he was younger by 6 years than i am now.
Perhaps he looked ancient before his time

We did a photo book for my dad for his 70th of him from a child to now, through the stages in his life.
The cover is an ace shot of him as a young man, standing in the middle of a stream taking some sort of reading.

Showing Joe Scaramanga the book when it was delivered, he said "Yeah that's good, but ... how come you've put YOUR ugly mug on the front?"

I pointed out that was my dad. At my age. It's an old pic.

Pffft.

Theory
People used to look older than their age in previous generations.

That's why we think of sixty being the new forty.
