This is a question Why I Love/Hate Britain

This week's been all about the Daily Mail and why people love or hate their country. Tell us one thing you hate about Britain, and one thing about why you love it.

This shouldn't be an excuse for RACISTLOLS, or long lists of things you dislike. Be intelligent, be funny, and be interesting

Having lived and worked in North America, South America and Asia as well as a few other countries in Europe
Britain's pretty much par for the course. I like it because it's familiar, but everywhere you go, you meet nice people, awesome people, and small-minded twats whose only purpose in life seems to be to try and make themselves feel better by belittling others. As long as you associate with the awesome people, and you're not one of those small-minded twats, you'll do all right, but the country you live in doesn't really matter.

This is a less than subtle dig at everyone here,
isn't it?

Yeah
I remember being really drunk and high and deliberating over what I was going to write and thinking it was really clever, but since I'm making a film in Ibiza at the moment, most of my posts for the foreseeable are likely to be similarly affected. I haven't had much sleep lately.

Oh, emvee! Not MASSIVE DRUGS?

Nah
Extremely soft drugs and Spanish beer combined with about 2 hours' sleep a night

Hahahayeah.
I remember this one time when I was on a jolly in the med and got mangled with all my cool friends and then went on the internet to whinge.

Wait. No. That would be unfathomably fucking tragic even by qftw standards.

What about people who try and make themselves feel better about being abandoned by their fathers
by exploiting vulnerable (and at best 'plain') women for the sexual gratification of themselves and others? Where do you stand on those kind of people? Perhaps you'd like to make a smug, pompous judgement on them? No? They must be what you deem 'awesome' people then. I see.

I've never met an awesome person
maybe it's because I'm not a 14 year old californian skater boy

Are there any small minded twats on this site?
If so, by you're own criterion you shouldn 't associate with us/them/whoever you're attacking here.

It's the same anywhere though
Say, a job. There are people at your work that you get on with, people that you really like, and the people that will snipe and snark at every opportunity and who get on your tits. Extrapolate that to the country you live in. I may have been using qotw as a metaphor for life, or at least a way of going through life. Like I say, I was kinda drunk when I wrote it. I'm kinda drunk now, and I'm sitting on the balcony of a villa in Ibiza where I'm staying for the forseeable while my neighbour plays the Elvis Love Songs collection at a volume that I can hear it and I get to hang out with some really great people. (And a couple of small-minded twats as well, because that's the way it goes.)

Basically, I can't think of something I hate about Britain that's specifically British because wherever I've lived and whatever I've done, there have always been people that I really liked and people I really didn't, but I'm really having trouble coming up with anything that's Britain-specific.

Oh hang on, maybe something about Marmite.
