they shouldn't be cloudy, never mind foul-smellingif you've been getting them from a pub, the proprietor(s) have probably been storing them in the wrong conditions and/or storing them beyond the end of their shelf life, not realising that they're perishable
I recall one place in central Manchester where this was rife; if you ordered any beer bar Heineken, Stella or something in a bottle you'd get a pint of sour liquid heartburn
