This is a question How nerdy are you?

This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.

So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?

As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.

Revel in your own nerdiness.

Childhood hacker...
Once upon a time in the early 90's, I was 5/6, my oldman bought a PC. It had Windows 2.0 on it. He used it for banking and whatnot. I used it for Paint, Solitaire (and Minesweeper - I still have NO IDEA what do with it) whenever I was allowed on it.

I liked the computer. It did things that I could not. But I was the master. Not it.

Playing around in Program Manager, I discover SuperBase64.
Oh. Holy. Jesus. That sounds cool.

I open it. I am prompted for a username and password.
*random-keyboard-scramble* RETURN.

*ACCESS GRANTED* (Ok, that's a lie, it didn't say that)

I now have all of my Dad's banking info in front of me. I don't know what is is. I'M JUST A CHILD!

"Whassat one?" *click* "Ooohhhhh....whassat?"
*click-click*
*Permanently delete?*
"Umm..." I have no idea what "Permanently" or "Delete" means... "OK" *click*

"Where's everything gone? ...Uh-oh,,,"

*Turn off computer*

2 days later I hear my Dad on the phone to my older cousin who set it all up for him - he was furious.

And now? Still like to *clickety-click* - am an IT engineer working for a global BPO in-charge of THOUSANDS of machines I get to *clickety-click* :-D

Length? Like the tax year-end form.

Something in there is inaccurate.
Program Manager was introduced with Windows 3.0.

and also
minesweeper wasn't in Windows 2.0 - Windows 3.0 and earlier had reversi - it wasn't replaced with Minesweeper until Windows 3.1 or maybe 3.11

Magic
What you do with Minesweeper, obviously, is type "xyzzy then play nonchalantly while watching the top leftmost pixel on the screen carefully. Any young woman watching will be so impressed that she will have sex with you.

At least, that is the theory.
