I saw them supporting Dinosaur Jr, Blur and the JAMC in the 90's.
They weren't that great.

I ain't lik B3th jumping on some sort of popular Quentin based bandwagon just to further her own demented ramblings.

It was OK.
It was billed as the JAMC's attempt to do Lollapolooza in Britain, but it didn't take off. The venue I saw them at was half empty. The gig could have been so much better with a packed house.
And JAMC only played for 25 minutes. As was their trademark, I guess.

Primarilarly because they had James as support who were better by a long way.

Slayer are playing a 1 hour and fifteen minute set next friday.
I'm almost a bit annoyed at having shelled out £40 for the ticket since I'm not remotely bothered about the other bands on the line up. But still, 75 minutes of slayer is worth it.

Me too.
The rest of the line up should be pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing Sleep and The Melvins are good value too.

The description of Sleep put me off, I'm not much of a fan of hour long albums devoted to weed.
But I like the Melvins, though I don't really know any of their songs that well. I'm just keen to see their stage show as I suspect they are a bit crazy live.

Whereas that appeals to the old stoner in me.
I saw Melvins in 2005 at the Slint ATP and they were great.

Y'see I like that about JAMC
In my previous band we decided to never play longer than 30 minutes (inspired by them).
No one can really be bothered to watch any more than that.
And I fucking hate encores too.

I'm talking generally
There are some exceptions, largely depending on how much you love a band, or what genre you're seeing (three hour gigs are kind of required for space rock bands).
Some bands can carry off a longer gig - Pulp are mentioned up there, a great live band - but most bands could do with truncating their sets a bit.

Depends what you're doing
The thought of a Grateful Dead 12 hour gig bores me.
You get a creative band and I could watch.

Because they're human, Quentin.
It's exactly the same reason that men can't just be nice.
Humans are flawed. Expectations are regularly disappointed. Hopes are regularly dashed.
Frankly, it's a wonder any of us can live with anyone else at all.

I don't know, TD.
It's just the way the world rolls, I guess. When I wasn't working I had very little time to post as most of my spare time was taken up with looking for work and running the house. Now I'm back working I can't post through the day and evenings are busy running the house. It's a vicious circle.

My days are never less than filled at the moment.
Which, considering I've had days where I've been twiddling my thumbs for hours on end is no bad thing. Alnwick DSS caller office springs to mind - me, a small room separated by a glass screen and an average of ten people a day spread over six hours springs to mind.
