I thinkit's a matter of age, really- the more sedate QOTW tends to attract older posters and people who like literate answers and exchanges of ideas. /talk is a gossip board that was an offshoot of the main board to keep the chatter in there to a minimum. It attracts the kids who like to show how funny and tough they are with their quick insults, which makes it like hanging with a mob of 15-year-olds.
I'll stay out of there, thanks. I'm a bit past that phase of life.
