Yes, I'd say it is. I'm fairly hardy anyway, when it comes to pain. It left me ashen and shaking like a freshly-raped dog (to borrow a line from Legless), but it was worth it.

It's free (or was from the place I got it, but it might depend on where you live), lasts for 5 years (no panics when one doesn't remember to take ones pill), and means an end to fannying around with condoms. It also reduces period pains, and although I put on a bit of weight with it, it was nothing compared to the weight gain one can get with the pill (first time I went on the pill, aged 18, I put on a stone in a month, and am still struggling to lose it again!)
