This is a question Political Correctness Gone Mad

Freddy Woo writes: "I once worked on an animation to help highlight the issues homeless people face in winter. The client was happy with the work, then a note came back that the ethnic mix of the characters were wrong. These were cartoon characters. They weren't meant to be ethnically anything, but we were forced to make one of them brown, at the cost of about 10k to the charity. This is how your donations are spent. Wisely as you can see."

How has PC affected you? (Please add your own tales - not five-year-old news stories cut-and-pasted from other websites)

A Former employer of mine
Like most FE colleges has a quota to employ ethnic minority staff. The only problem with this is that in order to fill the quota they end up employing staff who are well below par in terms of their skills and ability to do the job. Consequently, they now have a disproportionate of number ethnic minority teachers failing their probation. This has been noted by the union and there are a number of racial discrimination tribunals pending.

A US engineering company
.. I had a friend who was working in an engineering firm specialising in Computational Fluid Dynamics. The company ended up being investigated and, in short being asked "Why don't you employ Hispanic people".

The answer was simple.. No Hispanic people in the area seem to be educated in CFD, nor have any applied for a job.

In the end they had to fire the faithful old bloke who'd been sweeping their floors and emptying bins for years, and hire a Hispanic guy who - it turned out later - perpetuated the local stereotype by letting all his mates in one night and stealing all the computers.
