This is a question The B3TA Detective Agency

Universalpsykopath tugs our coat and says: Tell us about your feats of deduction and the little mysteries you've solved. Alternatively, tell us about the simple, everyday things that mystified you for far too long.

Back when I were a nipper...
...of about 15, I had a belt which I used to wear all the time which had a cross hanging from it (coz I'm METAL!!!!, you know).

One day, I noticed the cross had fallen off. Searching my bedroom, my path to school, the lounge, all the places I could think of produced nothing.

Then a few days later the shop my mum & step-dad owned had a new delivery of potatos, all in 25kg bags. Later that afternoon, on top of one of the new bags of spuds... the cross from my belt.

Mystified me to this day, that has.

tl;dr version: I lost something, it turned up a few days later on something that had just been delivered.

Quite clearly you were molested in your sleep, by a potato farmer.
I think we can close this case.

Aha!
It fell in the old potatos whilst you were drawing faces on the carrots.

Then when the new spuds arrived your folks rotated the stock.

That's that one solved. No need to thank me, it's all in a days work.

Hahaha, "drawing faces on the carrots" made me do a proper office lol :D

Possibly in an attempt to humanise them
Vegetable rights and all that rot. (Campaign slogan?)

Also, does my stock rotation theory hold water? My ego insists on knowing.

Sadly not... the cross was literally lying on one of the new bags.
And I spotted it about 3 seconds after the delivery driver had left.

How about this...
Cross fell off belt near front door/rear entrance/tradesmans..
Spuds are heavy...At a guess, around 25kg a bag..
Heavy spuds placed on floor near door
cross becomes squashed into paper sack/hessian
Spuds stacked in reverse order in shop, so the first sack down ends up on top of others
cross falls off due to jigglidge
cross found

Tada!

How about this one
One parent doesn't like the cross, removes and hides it. Tells other parent. Other parent shouts at first parent. First parent returns cross in indirect manner.

Edit: Does it suggest paranoia that this was my instant solution to the problem?

Haha, I think it may well do :D
