I have dreads
If you stop combing/washing your hair you will end up with one big dread. The easiest way to do it is:
1) backcomb all of your hair
2) separate it out into dreads
3) twist and backcomb each one individually
4) apply dreadlock wax (Dread It! is the one I use)
5) wrap a thin piece of wool around each dread
6) leave them for a week or so
7) remove wool
8) repeat as necessary
Because my hair is naturally very straight, I had mine sewn in as well
