can't say I'm over keen on their work generally, is it a bit of a depature for them or just more of the same?

It's pretty similar

middle of the road stuff really.
Nice use of instruments, voice and layers.

Actually I can't really judge their album against your image, pretty good, I'd buy some of those for my stairs.

I don't know that your stair would appreciate them though, they tend to be quite fickle creatures.
