I remember the day a black gentleman came to our primary school to repair somethingit was about 1977, and nobody had ever seen anyone non-white in real life before. A girl in our class remarked to the teacher about the 'blackie-sambo' working outside. She of course got reprimanded, but nobody in the class even realised that it was a wrong thing to say.
