There areHTML compressors out there. It's worth running files through these things before uploading them (That way there's an optimised version on the server and you have a readable copy to work with).

Probably.Although they have issues with dynamic content (php, cold fusion, asp etc).
What it really needs to do is take the content and dynamically find strings that
occur multiple times and replace them with variables.
