if you've just downloaded the newest firefox it will tell you that it doesn't trust the site to install extensions but you can easily change that (assuming you want to install something from a random website recommended by an anonymous name on a message board :))
You can then tweak all sorts of settings to do with tabbed browsing. For example I have middle click set up to open tabs in the background. This means that when I go to a news page I can middle click on all the interesting headlines and by the time I start reading they've all loaded.
