And even that huge sail would still be phyisically impossible to fold in half more than seven times.
That fact fucks with my head. I'm always like "surely if they got a big enough, thin enough sheet of tissue...?".
And then I remember physics.

Nah, it's to do with it becoming twice as thick and half as big each time*
which means it'll only fold seven times before some weird formula makes it too chubby and short to go over again.
*a bit like consecutive inbreeding
