sensitivity to red light is not the issue...wether you're developing b&w or colour, if you don't 'put on the red light' outside the darkroom someone might open the door, thus admitting the whole spectrum, so when sting told rox that she didn't have to put on the red light he wasn't referring to lighting in the darkroom by which to develop film, he was talking about the warning light outside the door - see?
I don't know why they don't just put a bloody lock on the door.
