It had it's day from what I remember with Tom Baker and some commendable budgets in the 70'sand quality scripts as well, like the Talons of Wang Chung, the Robots of Death, and the Genesis of the Daleks, but lost it's way IMO during the 80's.
Quite frankly, i'm enjoying the new stuff, perhaps because how let down I felt by the 80's Doctor Who. It's early evening fun!
