In photoshopadd your text then on the layers window to the right ( which is viewed by default but you might need to enable it in the window tool if not visible ) right click the text layer and choose blending options to bring up the layer style dialogue. Check the stroke option at the bottom than right click stroke to bring up the properties where you can change the colour of the stroke from the default red to black. You can also change the parameters of the stroke to make it greater in pixel size or change its blending option.
