Difficult to say without knowing more background, but the fact he puts in something as weak as 'I'm worried about you flying because of the terrorist threat' smells distinctly of bullshit. And famil news that he 'can't go into'? You're supposed to be partners!

However havbing suffered fromt he carzy assed panic attack kinda stuff you do sometimes scramble for any excuse to get out of things that shouldnt be hard.

EDIT - Most of all you have to talk to each other and find out what the problems are and find the way for both of you to be happy be happy.
