allthese problems are solved by chipping your xbox.. free games, emulators (arcade, snes, megadrive, pc-engine, amiga, n64), divx playback, region free dvd playback.
btw at my house it's:
laptop in sitting room->pc (vnc)
pc->tv
pc->soundsystem
xbox(as above)->tv
ps2->tv
gamecube->tv
video->tv
sky->tv
pc->3 other pcs->1meg cable
tv->(2nd)surround sound system
